The problem

The previous cloud-only till stopped at every connection drop, and on a trade counter that means a queue and lost sales. Staff fell back to handwritten bills that were re-entered later, which introduced both pricing and stock errors.

What we built

We built the counter as a desktop application holding its own transaction store, so billing continues offline and queues transactions for the server. On reconnect the queue is sent and reconciled, with defined rules for stock conflicts.
