Customer order portal for a contract manufacturer

Customers placing and tracking orders themselves instead of by email and phone.

  • Customer login and permissions
  • Order placement against agreed specs
  • Customer-specific pricing
  • Production status visibility

The problem

Orders arrived by email in inconsistent formats and were re-keyed. Customers phoned for status updates, which consumed the sales team's day and still left customers uncertain.

What we built

We built a customer portal where approved customers place orders against their agreed specifications and price list, and see production and despatch status without contacting anyone.

Modules delivered

  • Customer login and permissions
  • Order placement against agreed specs
  • Customer-specific pricing
  • Production status visibility
  • Despatch and document download
  • Order history

What changed

What the delivered system does differently from the process it replaced.

  • Orders arrive structured rather than as free-text email
  • Customers self-serve status
  • Re-keying of orders is removed

Why this customer is not named

Most of our customers allow the work to be described but not their name published. Where a customer has given permission, their name and testimonial appear here.

Independent accounts of our work are published by customers themselves on our Facebook reviews page.

Does this look like your problem?

If any of this is familiar, the first step is the same one this project started with: a free requirement study that ends in a written scope and a fixed price.
